As a Blockchain Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Axelar Network. You will take ownership of the network and its functions and ensure smooth operations. You will work with BD and Product teams to prioritize various initiatives around the network and contribute to tooling for the network.

Your responsibilities

• Manage releases and rollout upgrades to the network in collaboration with our validators.
• Develop and iterate on tooling around network deployment, monitoring, security and other network ops related functions.
• Drive governance of the network including the delegation program.
• Strengthen our security posture and refining protocols for offline signing.
• Improve the infrastructure and deployment to improve team’s agility and velocity.
• Improve and iterate on internal tooling that our protocol engineers use to develop new features.

Your Profile

• Good understanding of cryptography.
• Scripting and tooling experience preferably in Javascript/Golang.
• Experience managing a blockchain network and coordinating upgrades.
• Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes in a cloud environment.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Grafana, Prometheus, etc.).
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD tools.
• Security first coding and deployment mindset.
• Understanding of blockchains / DeFi as a user.
• Experience with the cosmos sdk and cosmos based networks.
• Familiarity with the IBC protocol.
• Experience operating validators or nodes for various blockchains.

You will be looking after backend applications that facilitate cross-chain protocol workflows, such as asset transfer and generalized message passing, while ensuring that our systems are fault-tolerant and highly available.

Your responsibilities

• Reliability: Broadening and deepening observability as necessary to proactively identify functional and reliability issues, coming up with long-term solutions while also mitigating short-term impact.
• Diagnostics: Doing detective work investigating cross-chain and single-chain workflows, understanding complex behaviours and inventing optimal tweaks or improvements.
• Network Liveness: Our team builds and operates the execution layer of the Axelar Network – we are responsible for ensuring every transaction on the network is delivered quickly and reliably.
• System Implementation: Build highly reliable and scalable backend components for blockchain indexing and cross-chain protocols. Develop microservices that operate across diverse execution environments, including Kubernetes and AWS Lambdas.
• Distributed Systems: Leverage your expertise in distributed systems to ensure fault tolerance, graceful failure handling, and transparent recovery across our services.

Your profile

• Strong experience working with distributed systems at scale.
• Deep knowledge of fault tolerance in distributed systems and building software that fails gracefully and recovers transparently.
• Experience working with distributed messaging frameworks (RabbitMQ, AMPQ, or similar) and message driven applications.
• Experience building and orchestrating microservices running in different execution environments like Kubernetes and AWS lambdas.
• We use GoLang, Terraform, AWS in our day-to-day work. You may not be an expert with all of these technologies, but we are looking for somebody with strong skills with some of them or with transferable experience.
